Car Detailing in Armadale

High Street's plane trees are lovely right up until you park under one. Most of what we correct in Armadale is not a neglected car — it is a well-kept one that lives outdoors under a canopy.

The local picture

What we
see in Armadale.

Armadale runs between Dandenong Road and Malvern Road in a grid of Victorian and Edwardian homes on genuinely leafy streets. That canopy shapes the work. The cars here are generally looked after; what they are up against is everything the trees drop on them.

Sap and bird droppings account for most of what we remove. Both are acidic, both bond hard in summer heat, and both etch the clear coat if they are left to sit. A dropping baked onto a hot bonnet over a weekend can leave a mark no amount of washing will lift — at that point it is a machine polishing job rather than a cleaning one.

Access is the other Armadale characteristic. Plenty of the period homes off Kooyong Road, Denbigh Road and Sutherland Road have a single-width bluestone drive, and some have no off-street parking at all. We work in tighter spots than most, but we do need the doors to open properly.

Three things worth knowing

Armadale specifics

01

Sap from the plane trees

Sticky through spring, hard and glassy by February. Fresh sap comes off with a solvent; cured sap has usually already bitten into the clear coat.

02

Bird droppings that etch

Uric acid works fastest on a hot panel in direct sun. Rinse it off the day it lands — a dull ring left behind is etching, and that needs polishing.

03

Narrow period driveways

Single-width bluestone drives, and no off-street parking on some streets at all. A tight bay is fine; a bay where the doors will not open is not.

Before we arrive

What to
have ready.

We bring the machines, pads, compounds, chemicals and lighting. What we cannot bring is water and power — there is no tank or generator in the van, so the tap and the powerpoint have to be yours.

  • Somewhere to park with room to open all four doors
  • An outside tap and a powerpoint we can reach from the car
  • Shade if you have it — the canopy is genuinely useful for once
  • A heads-up if you only have permit street parking, so we can plan the day

Questions

Detailing in Armadale

I only have street parking in Armadale — can you still detail my car?
Usually, but tell us when you book. Most residential streets off High Street are permit or two-hour zones, and a Full Detail runs a lot longer than two hours. A visitor permit solves it outright. Failing that we will look at working in the driveway even if it is tight, or starting early before restrictions bite.
Do you need to use my water and power?
Yes. We bring the machines, pads, compounds, chemicals and lighting; you provide somewhere to park, an outside tap and a powerpoint. There is no water tank or generator in the van, so a bay with neither is the one situation we genuinely cannot work in.
The sap marks have been there since summer — will they come out?
Fresh sap lifts off easily. Sap that has sat through a hot summer has usually etched a shallow dish into the clear coat, and that is machine polishing rather than washing. Send a photo taken in daylight and we will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.
